right in between the Patagonian steppe and Valdivian forest
Nature and wildlife
Bariloche is right in between the Patagonian steppe and Valdivian forest which shows in the wide variety of species of flora. The typical big trees such as cypress, oak, myrtle and pines characterize the surroundings. In the mystic forests of Patagonia live a variety of wild animals such as deer, pumas, Patagonian hares, foxes, guanacos, black necked swans, and the lesser rhea. The combination of altitude, latitude and mostly west-northwest winds result in a cool temperate climate. The sub-oceanic climate contains cold winters, and warm, mild summers. It usually snows from May until October, which is why from mid June to the end of September is the perfect time for your Patagonia adventure.
